FFDP, Papa Roach, and Mastodon Make Helmet Cover for House of Pain

The Judgment Night The soundtrack was a fairly influential collection in the ’90s, pairing harder rock bands with acts of rap and hip-hop and its impact is still being felt today as a group of musicians collaborated on a socially distanced cover under the Kings of Quarantine nickname on the Helmet and House of Pain couple, “Just a Victim”.

This collaboration was envisioned by Jason Rockman and Kevin Jardine of Slaves on Dope as well as Bill Kelliher of Mastodon, who were part of previous efforts. As with past endeavors, it has morphed into a star set, with this cover featuring a cast of musicians including Chris Kael of Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach drummer Tony Palermo, turntable player Public Enemy DJ Lord. and singers Matt McGachy of Cryptopsy, Bret “Epic” Mazur of Crazy Town, Lou Koller of Sick of It All, Slaine of La Coka Nostra and newcomer RhymeStyleTroop.

As with the old Kings of Quarantine covers, the intention is to raise money for Roadie Relief as the pandemic has put touring staff in financial stalemate. All proceeds from the cover will go to Roadie Relief.

“Just Another Victim” was suggested after a discussion between Rockman and Kelliher and is now Kings of Quarantine’s fourth installment in their cover series.

“We hope not only to put smiles on people’s faces, but also to help tour staff who have been severely affected by the pandemic,” Rockman said. And even with the return of tours, Kings of Quarantine expects to offer more star-studded covers in the future.

If you like what you hear, you download the song via the Kings of Quarantine Bandcamp page. And donations can also be made directly to Roadie Relief.

Helmet and House of Pain originally released “Just Another Victim” on the 1993 film soundtrack. Judgment Night. The soundtrack also included collaborations between Teenage Fanclub and De La Soul, Biohazard and Onyx, Slayer and Ice-T and Pearl Jam and Cypress Hill, among others.
