Lucky Dallas choir students took part in a master class Friday with two currently touring artists from Hamilton’s company, which is in production at Music Hall in Fair Park.
It is a lesson that all the students have been eagerly awaiting.
âI love the workshops and just being able to see the kids face to face to let them know that this dream that was a dream of mine is something that is possible for them too,â said Deejay Young, one of the main tour replacements Hamilton, who led the master class with Krystal Mackie, dance captain of the Broadway National Tour Hamilton.
The students warmed up, learned the choreography and asked questions.
Students like Jayna Kidd have said they hope to be in the place of performers one day.
âI think this is going to be another amazing step to rock me,â Kidd said.
A graduate of Bishop Lynch High School, who works in theater in New York City, put the school in touch with the opportunity, delighting the students and the school’s choir director.
âOh my God. I’m a huge fan of Broadway and musicals,â said choir director Kathy Leos.
It’s a lesson that inspires students to pursue their dreams on and off the stage.
âIt’s beautiful to live your dream. Work is not like work when you do this. Hope they know they can do it, âMackie said.
The artists said they give masterclasses like this in schools during tours to different cities.
