Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has named Jennifer Knoepfle as Executive Vice President and Co-Head of US A&R, effective immediately.
Based in Los Angeles, Knoepfle will report to Jody Gerson, CEO of UMPG.
In her role as Executive Vice President and Co-Head of U.S. A&R, UMPG says Knoepfle will work closely with UMPG’s Co-Head of U.S. A&R, EVP and Chief global creative group David Gray and his team.
UMPG states that Knoepfle will work with UMPG songwriters, artists and producers, “co-lead the A&R team in identifying, signing and developing emerging talent, and support legacy talent by providing them with opportunities to strengthen their career”.
Described by UMPG as “one of the most successful publishing executives in the industry,” Knoepfle joins UMPG from Sony Music Publishing, where she has worked since 2009, most recently as SVP, Creative.
During his tenure, Knoepfle was responsible for signing and developing songwriters in the United States, including Jack Antonoff, Aaron Dessner, Dan Nigro, Ariel Rechtshaid, Bloodpop, Joel Little and artists such as WILLOW, Tate McRae, King Princess, Remi Wolf, Maggie Rogers, Leon Bridges, Wallows, Salem Ilese, Noah Kahan and Lord Huron in recent years.
Other notable songwriters Knoepfle has signed and worked with throughout his career include Grimes, Foster The People, Mikky Ekko and Sam Dew.
She previously served as ASCAP’s Senior Membership Director between 2005 and 2009, where she brought a number of high-profile songwriters to the organization, including The Killers and Greg Kurstin.
