New recruits expand WMC A&R team


With the stated intention of expanding its roster with new hip-hop, R&B and pop artists, Warner Music Canada hired Charlie B and Nicholas Causarano as A&R directors and promoted George Kalivas to the same rank.

Charlie B is the stage name of Ajay Saxena. He is a DJ and producer whose career in music began with monthly residencies in clubs across North America and regular appearances on the BET 106 & PARK TV show. Mentored by DJ Drama, DJ Khaled and Drake, he released his debut album last month At all levels, with Duvy, Haviah Mighty, Lil Berete, NorthSide Benji, Pressa and Roy Woods. He is also involved in fundraising projects, including raising $50,000 for the Toronto Black Health Alliance. Nicholas Causarano joins WM Canada after running his artist management boutique Cause & Effect, which operates in Toronto and Los Angeles. Since its inception, the company’s roster of songwriters and producers has contributed to the successes of artists such as Alessia Cara, bülow, Hailee Steinfeld, Leah Kate, renforshort, Travis Barker and Wiz Khalifa. He previously worked in various record labels, as well as in the music supervision departments of network television shows. George Kalivas has worked in the marketing department of WM Canada for over five years and in his new role as A&R Director, he will split his time between creative and operational work. He has worked with a wide variety of artists and has a strong track record of delivering successful campaigns.

The A&R team reset also sees Taylor Nishimura promoted to the new position of Associate Director, A&R Operations. She will report to Kalivas in her new role.
