The Spice Girls, one of pop music’s biggest bands, have decided to call it quits and split up
One of the most successful pop bands of all time, The Spice Girls, would finally be over for good. There had been plans for a new movie and a tour, but everything was canceled and the girls went their own way – again.
“It was going very well – but Covid killed the momentum. Now it’s done again. There is nothing on the agenda, and they are focused on their own business,” an insider revealed.
The group that coined the term ‘Girl Power’ had completed a huge 13-date reunion, with the Spice World – 2019 Tour. Four of the original members participated – less Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) – playing in front of 700,000 fans, the tour culminating on 15 June 2019, with the third of three sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium. The tour reportedly raised £80million.
On this last night, with the tour an unparalleled success, Mel B (Scary Spice) had announced on stage that the band was planning Australian dates. An animated film was also in the works, where the girls were to voice superheroes, with Posh Spice (Victoria) apparently joining them.
Music mogul Simon Fuller is said to be behind the project, as a follow-up to their previous cult classic film in 1997 – spice world.
“The girls loved being back on stage and it reinvigorated their love for the stage. But a few years of confinement and everyone’s backs turned the group around in favor of other projects,” the insider continued.
To add, “Géri talks about new TV, Emma works in television and radio, and both Mels focus on their own stuff. It’s definitely not Victoria who’s going to bring him back to life – so he’s collapsed. They are finished”, as reported thesun.co.uk.
