The Owen Sound City Band, led by Music Director Julia Richards, is now back to celebrate 100+2 years of music in the quaint town, resuming its traditional Monday night concerts in Harrison Park, starting at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays from July. , and from 7:15 p.m. on Mondays in August.
The Owen Sound City Band was officially established in July 1920 and will now continue to present music in the park including marches, swing, waltzes, children’s songs and contemporary popular music after a pandemic hiatus from two years.
Bring lawn chairs or listen as you stroll through the grounds.
The Owen Sound City Band was founded by William Iles over a hundred years ago, shortly after the city was incorporated.
Over the years and through all the changes, the band continued to play for parades, regular park concerts, radio shows, fundraisers, county fairs, schools and senior centers. .
Funded by the City of Owen Sound, band membership is open and free. Musicians are invited to join the band during its regular rehearsals at East Ridge Community School.
